There are several different types of IP protection, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. So it’s important to understand what type(s) of IP apply to your invention before moving forward.

If you have a new invention discovery, the first step is to submit an Invention Disclosure to disclose any discovery, invention, process, composition of matter, article of manufacture, know-how, design, model, technological development, strain, variety, or culture of any organism, or portion, modification, translation, or extension of these items, and any mark used in connection with these items.

  • Download the IDF The disclosure form is designed to gather specific information that will enable evaluation of the invention's patentability and commercial potential..
  • Complete and Submit IDF Inventors are encouraged to submit an Invention Disclosure Form to cttil@kln.ac.lk as early as possible in the inventive process, before public disclosure of the idea or invention.
