Session 6 of the negotiation workshop for Sri Lankan Technology Transfer: Value Sharing Through Licensing
A technology transfer workshop was held from September 25–29, 2022, in Kathmandu, Nepal, and was attended by all directors and managers of UBL and HEI Cells. The was organized by the US Department of Commerce's Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in collaboration with Cornell University and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
With the assistance of the USPTO and several US universities, CLDP is working with a select group of state universities throughout Sri Lanka to establish university business linkages (UBL) and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) cells that will serve as technology transfer offices.
This is in support of the government of Sri Lanka's efforts to establish a strong intellectual property (IP) regime, including the protection and exploitation of IP rights in the public and private sector. To that end, this program was intended to increase the ability of Directors and Managers of UBL and HEI Cells to recognize, assess, safeguard, and profit from IP created within their companies, with a particular focus on IP commercialization.
