University of Kelaniya Files Three International Patent Applications for the First Time in Its History!
We're excited to announce that the University of Kelaniya has made history by filing three international patent applications for the first time ever! These patents are the result of groundbreaking research conducted by our teams in the fields of physics, electronics, and chemistry.
The first patent application is for cinnamon-based dietary supplements, which was co-invented by Ms. H. G. Nadini Dewangani and Mrs. W. A. N. M. Wariyapperuma and led by Senior Professor Bimali Jayawardena. The product is experimentally proven for managing diabetes and improving lipid profiles, and is coumarin-free and made with 100% natural ingredients.
Professors Kapila Seneviratne and Nimanthi Jayathilaka of the University of Kelaniya developed a thermally stable coconut-based food preservative from coconut byproducts, which is the second patent application. It's a safe and natural alternative to synthetic food preservatives and has already been licensed to NuEarth Foods (Pvt.) Ltd.
A team led by Senior Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali of the Department of Physics & Electronics developed the third patented technology “System and method for addressable data communication using radio frequency communication.” The innovative system does not require an Internet connection or a SIM card and can monitor and control connected devices without using the Internet. It has continuous communication even during an Internet failure and can implement various systems, such as fire alarms and water quality monitoring.
We're incredibly proud of our researchers for their hard work and dedication in developing these innovative inventions. We look forward to seeing the impact these patents will have on society and the world at large. Thank you for your continued support!
